The Change About Wen Village Of Taishan From Wave To Travel Across The Oceans

The theme discussed in this paper is the response about Wen Village of Taishan,a coastal village on the west coast of the Pearl River in Guangdong Province,when facing ocean-related events and crowd challenges since the Ming Dynasty.This process is actually the main history of change in the village.The article is mainly divided into two parts.The first half of the article introduces the basic information of the village,such as geographical location,the evolution of government,belief and custom activities.Mainly focus on the settlement of Chen family in Wen village and the history of how they get wealth.It is pointed out that the genealogy,which dates back to Shun,and the will of the old man called Mo(??????),which claims that Wen villagers had moved southward from Zhuji Lane during the Southern Song Dynasty,are in fact the product of the Ming Dynasty,but also reflect the historical facts of immigrants in the Song Dynasty.It is an embodiment of the population growth of the Pearl River Delta in Song Dynasty.It also shows the history of the Chen family,who became a big ethnic group in the village at latest the Ming Dynasty not only by selling salt and developing agriculture but also because of imperial examination as an outsider.The latter half discusses the response process of Wen village when facing a series of problems under the instability of coast since Ming Dynasty,such as the pirates,Wokou,Wang Xing,coastal evacuation and so on.After the late Qing Dynasty,due to the poverty caused by Hakka-Punti Fighting(????)and frequent wars,and demand of overseas,Wen villagers were either voluntarily or forced to cross the ocean to find survival opportunities.In the Ming Dynasty,Xinning County actually in waves,was invaded by pirates,Wokou and mountain thieves for a long time.During this period,Wen villagers took some simple measures to defense when the dangers is coming,reflected the consciousness of coastal people who took simple and passive steps were week.In the Ming-Qing period,the wars between Nanming and the Qing Dynasty occurred on this land,Xinning County fell into chaos.In order to safeguard their own interests,the Wen took the initiative to fight Wang Xing,but in the end the county became the anti-Qing base area of General Wang Xing of Nanming Dynasty,and established a solid anti-Qing front with the Nanming forces of other regions at sea outside the mainland.During the Kang Xi period,as a result of the implementation of the policy of moving to the sea,the Wen villagers left their homes again.After the resumption of the boundary,because Zhao Sheng offered the false land contract to the king of Canton,it went through a long process of recovering the land.During the Yong Zheng and Kang Xi period,the economy of Wen village was restored and developed,and the tomb and ancestral hall of the clan were rebuilt.At the same time,the establishment of Wenhai College,also began to attach importance to education.But the prosperity of the Wen village period of Kang and Qian is no longer as well as in the past.Due to the influence about the wars of Ming-Qing period and the coastal evacuation in the early Qing Dynasty,the population was reduced and the land was abandoned.After the restore boundary,the Qing government vigorously carried out the measures of recruiting and reclaiming the people,and a large number of people in Huizhou,Jiaqing,Chaozhou moved to Guangdong and Zhaoqing areas,where the land was large and less people as a result of the coastal evacuation.Based on the distribution of interests,and government policies and other issues had not been well dealt with,it set off 14 years of local fighting.Moreover,during this period,the contradiction between people and land was serious,natural disasters were frequent,and the people lived in great hardship.As a result,many Taishan people either was forced or voluntarily to go out to make a living.From "Piggy Chinese Workers","Credit Chinese Workers" to seeking their chances in Los Angeles,more and more overseas Chinese in Taishan had moved to the United States,Southeast Asia,Hong Kong and Macao and other regions.At that time,Taishan people went abroad mainly through Guanghai or Haikou port to Guangzhou,Hong Kong and Macao to the United States,Brazil and other places.In the early years of the Republic of China,for conveniently Haiyan people set up a route from Haiyan to Guanghai and Macao.It's believed that the people of Wen village at that time also crossed the ocean in this way.Under the all kinds of challenges bringing from people and events related to the ocean,the people of Wen village from passivity to positive.As one of the famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Taishan,in recent years,the Wen village has made great efforts to develop tourism by virtue of its own historical advantages and the characteristics of overseas Chinese.In the context of Belt and Road Initiative,the story between the Wen village and the ocean is still being told.
