Study On Music For Clown In Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera

This paper studies clowns in the Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera.Tea-leaf Picking Opera is not only a famous local opera in Jiangxi,but also an important part of Chinese folk operas.The literature analysis method,the field investigation method and the case analysis method are applied to systematically analyze the musical characteristics,language features,features of music for voices,and performance modes of clowns in the Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera.To deepen and thoroughly study the music for clowns in Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera,the author comprehensively,scientifically and deeply explores Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera.Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera first appeared in Jiulong Mountain,Anyuan County,Jiangxi Province.It used to be a way of entertainment for local people while picking tea leaves,and later it has gradually been developed into a kind of folk art.Closely related to the Hakka culture,Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera is a famous local opera in Jiangxi,which is also known as the three-role opera.Compared with other operas,Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera is time-honored,strongly comic and close to life,so it enjoyrs great popularity among the people.From the perspective of music style,entertaining the public with exaggerated movements,language or music,Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera belongs to the category of comedy.The clown is the key to Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera.It is the clown that expresses the humorous and funny plot,presents features of the characters through expressions,language and movements,and conveys the stories and emotions to the audience.To some extent,the clown plays an irreplaceable important role in tea-leaf picking operas.With the development of economy and science and technology during recent years,young people in the new generation have adapted to changes brought by the new era,and the inheritance of folk traditional culture has become increasingly difficult.Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera is a traditional folk art of Jiangxi.To make Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera known by more people,and promote the inheritance and development of tea-leaf picking operas in southern Jiangxi,with clowns in Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera as the research objects,Southern JiangxiTea-leaf Picking Opera is analyzed and explored both theoretically and in practice from two perspectives,namely musical characteristics and case analysis.The paper is divided into three chapters:The introduction part mainly introduces the research background and reviews domestic and foreign literature,including the author’s recording the field investigation,watching the performance of tea-leaf picking opera in various towns and villages in Southern Jiangxi and interviewing the performers and audiences.In the end,the research ideas and methods are presented.In the first chapter,to better study the music for clowns in Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera,the author also makes a targeted analysis of the historical origin,music form and performance form of Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera.After an overview of Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera,the origin,performance characteristics and performance skills of clowns in Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera are introduced.In the second chapter,the paper analyzes the musical characteristics of the clowns in Chance Encounter by Boat,Catching Frogs and Taking a Look at the Girls,three classic plays of Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera.In the third chapter,based on the case analysis of the clown in the third classic play mentioned in Chapter Two,the paper elaborates on the musical characteristics and music functions of the clown in Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera.Therefore,the author studies the music for clowns in Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera based on the professional knowledge learned,in the hope of attracting the attention of more scholars and the general public,and re-stimulate the audience ’s enthusiasm for Southern Jiangxi Tea-leaf Picking Opera,so as to better understand the local folk songs and provide more room for the development of Chinese folk music.
