A Report On E-C Translation Of "Diversity Of Reliability Attributes,A Key Component Of The Modern Grid"

With the rapid development of the science & technology,international sci-tech communication is becoming more frequent than ever before in the whole world.As an vital branch of English text,the study of EST translation strategies and characteristics is of great signification for practice.The translation material for the paper is extracted from the website of the American Petroleum Institute,and at present there is no Chinese translation.This paper introduces the United States electric industry is currently in the midst of a transformation driven by technological innovation,changes in the industry's cost structure,and environmental concerns and illustrates the diversity of reliability attributes,a key component of the modern grid.This paper also describes the entire process of translation which is mainly divided into four parts.first part: introduce the background,characteristics of the report and literature review;second part: describe the process of translation which includes the pre-translation,during-translation and after-translation;third part: introduce the specific cases of terminology translation such as word choice based on collocation,word choice based on context,and word choice based on consulting professional as well as the translation strategies of complex sci-tech sentences which includes sequential method,inversion,division,and conversion;fourth part: the summary of the translation practice,and the translator also illustrates the reflections,limitations and the suggestions of the translation practice.Some suggestions are put forward for the future research of sci-tech English translation.In a word,the translator makes an effort to discuss some translation strategies to address the difficulties in sci-tech English translation.The paper hopes to provide a reference for the translation of English for science & technology.
