Abstract/Summary:
The Brain: The Story of You is an excellent work of popular science. The book introduces to the public the latest advances in neuroscience and provides a new perspective for people to understand themselves. The content is rich and profound;the language is plain and vivid.Through the translation of the book, the translator hopes that he and the people around him will learn about the issues on modern brain science and feel the charm of science and technology.Besides,he also hopes to take this opportunity to make his own exploration in the translation of writings in popular science. In terms of translation strategy, this paper, from the stance of cultural equality and exchange, tries to neutralize the long-standing antagonism between domestication and foreignization.Through balancing the use of their respective strengths, the translator attempts to seek a translation strategy that not only guarantees the naturalness and fluency of the translated text but also preserves the ideological and cultural connotations of the original text, that is,the Mean between Domestication and Foreignization. To realize the translation strategy, the translator discusses and sets the ultimate goal and core principle of the strategy, based on which he proposes six specific approaches and then applies and revises the approaches during this translation practice.
