City is the product of the development of human society to a certain stage and is one of the important signs of social progress.Studying the urban development of a country in a specific historical period is conducive to a more comprehensive understanding of the country’s economic and social development.The Soviet period was the period of the fastest urban development and the most remarkable development achievements in the whole urban development history of Russia.How to investigate the results of urban development in the Soviet union?The author decided to study the social life of citizens living in the city during this period,and strive to have a more comprehensive understanding of the living conditions of urban citizens in the Soviet union,and analyzes the adverse factors affecting the living standards of Soviet citizens on this basis.This paper is divided into five chapters,the main content is as follows:The first chapter is the introduction of this paper.This chapter will briefly discuss the significance of the topic selection of this paper,some research status of domestic and foreign scholars on urban development and local social life of citizens in the Soviet union period,the research methods and writing ideas of this paper,as well as the innovation points and shortcomings of this article.The second chapter mainly studies the economic living standard of the citizens from the two aspects of the income and consumption level of the citizens in the Soviet period.The first part discusses the composition of citizens’ income and the change of wage income,and compares and analyzes the industrial differences between citizens’ income.The second part mainly discusses the consumption composition and consumption level of citizens in Soviet period.The third chapter mainly discusses the daily life of citizens.This chapter is mainly divided into two parts,namely from the public working hours andnon-working hours of leisure life two aspects of discussion and analysis.These include industry,regional and gender differences in working hours;As well as the education of the citizens,the construction of museums and libraries,the prosperity of cinemas and theatres and other non-working hours of the citizens’ cultural and recreational life.The forth chapter mainly discusses the housing and travel status of citizens.The housing situation of citizens is mainly discussed from the construction situation,housing types,characteristics and supporting facilities of the urban housing in the Soviet period.The travel status of citizens is mainly discussed from the aspects of the construction and improvement of urban roads,the choice of different travel modes and the development of a new mode of transportation--subway.The fifth chapter mainly discusses the unfavorable factors affecting the living standard of the citizens in the Soviet union period,including the serious urban environmental pollution problem,the long-term existence of housing shortage,and the citizens’ living standard needs to be further improved.
