The researches on the heroes in Garcia Marquez's novels take up a large proportion in the research related to this writer, most of which focus on the female heroes,as well as the study of male heroes in his works. In fact, almost heroes in his works are the aged, but there is short of the studies about it.Therefore, this article intends to study Marquez's works from this perspective. In addition, the most aged heroes in his works are men,so this article focuses on the heroes of aged man in Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novels(hereinafter referred to as the heroes of "the aged")to study. This paper consists of introduction, conclusion and four main parts. The first chapter is to explore the reason why there are so many aged heroes in Marquez's novels.According to the theory of Bakhtin's generalized dialogue theory and Chronotope theory, the writing of aged heroes is not only as a result of dialogues between the writer and historical figures like his grandfather, and literary figures of Don Quixote, but also between himself who is getting to old.In addition, the Chronotope of aged heroes and the main Chronotope of Marquez's novels also constitute a unified dialogue.Chapter two discusses the transformation from heroes of "orphan" to the heroes of "the aged" in Marquez's novels. The "orphan" in the early novels reflects Marquez's concern about the literary creation situation of the new generation of Latin American novelists. However, after showing a contest between "orphan" and aged heroes in Leaf Storm,Marquez established a literary creation view that reflects the historical reality of Latin America.Chapter three discusses the political aged heroes and their connotations in Marquez's historical novels. For the purpose of reconstructing history and collective memory,Marquez created a group of political aged heroes integrating history and publicity, which were regarded as the symbol of traditional Latin American culture spirit and the metaphor of Latin American historical evolution.Chapter four discusses the heroes of the artistic aged in Marquez's love novels and their connotations.Marquez regarded the "old age" as a preposterous situation of the aged, and their pursuit of inter-generational love was a kind of resistance to absurdity.Based on the analysis of the main body part, this paper concludes that the shaping of aged heroes has Marquez's unique artistic considerations, and reflects the writer's two transformation on the creative direction, first of all,Marquez's attention on writing from individual's "ego" turns to the "we" of collective, then shifts to the more universal significance of individual attention in his later period. So the aged heroes in his late novels show a kind of late style which is disharmony and unrest.
