Patience is a contradictory and complicated topic.People both love and hate it.Love patience can make people do things with limits,but hate patience will restrict freedom.Since modern times,people charged the Chinese slavish thought blame on Confucian.Because they think Confucian created the patience of the weak.Before rethinking the Confucius patient thought,we should combine with the situation and difficulties faced now,and weigh the attitude of Confucius.For example,Confucius advocated moderation,courtesy,modesty,and frugality.Is humility an excuse for an individual to retreat in times of adversity,or a reason for conniving at the arrogance of others;According to Confucius’ concept of righteousness and interests,should we be humble and give way whenever interests are involved;Patience contributes to the tempering of quality.Should we endow individuals with heavy patience,Where is the bottom line;Although Confucius said,“lack of forbearance in small matters upsets great plans.” So,will he agree with the use of patience to gain benefits.On the basis of the above questions,Confucius did not approve of the kind of endurance that condescends to oneself and others,makes an ignoble living and endures humiliation to survive.Faced with the social situation of the ritual collapse,Confucius devoted himself to stand for the right way by giving rich connotation to his thought of endurance,which contains tolerance,forbearance,patience,restraint,willingness and so on.Confucius’ s patience is the initiative of people from the state of nature to the state of freedom of progress,which has the initiative of people.Confucius endured to make vigorous efforts to turn the situation for he cannot bear to see people lived in a society without rites.Wisdom is the premise of Confucius’ s patience,patience to peace of mind,the use of etiquette to regulate patience,morality is the principle of patience,to the tao is the goal of patience,Confucius did not leave the needs of people talk about patience.Confucius advocated humility and comity at the same time,but also with "is tolerable,who can not endure" to illustrate the limits of patience,its patience from the people,from human nature,in line with the emotional needs of people and higher than the feelings of people.The fundamental criterion of endurance and intolerance is the tao,and the specific criterion is loyalty and forgiveness.All endurance which lacks of righteousness is only a superficial form and a bully tool.Confucius’ s patience,under the line of the norms of heaven and earth,under the line of the daily use of human relations,which has principle and flexibility,to suffer humiliation or humiliation is wrong practice,so that only wise people can understand what is patience.Wise people know what patience is,so they do not feel uncomfortable,and there is no resentment.Confucius’ thought of patience has important practical significance for today’s society.
