A Simultaneous Interpreting Practice Report Of Cultural Confidence And English Translation Of Chinese Classics Under The Guidance Of Syntactic Linearity Principle

Cultural confidence is the basis of the English translation of Chinese classics.The English translation of Chinese classics has experienced three stages: cultural interpretation,cultural consciousness,and cultural confidence.The translation practice of most Chinese translators shows cultural confidence.This report is based on the English translation of Chinese Classics seminar about Mr.Wang Rongpei,and it is an interpreting practice regarding the lecture about the research on the cultural confidence and English translation of Chinese classics from the speaker,the aim is to talk about the inseparable relations between cultural confidence and English Translation of Chinese classics and the English translation style of Chinese classics from Mr.Wang Rongpei.In this simultaneous interpreting practice,the author adopts the interpretation principle of “syntactic linearity” and combines theory with interpreting practice to achieve better results and make the translation content more consistent with the source language.In this article,the source language is semantically repeated many times,some sentences lack subjects and confused in structure,and there are many four words idioms and Chinese poetry which make the interpreting task more difficult,the author uses the principle of “syntactic linearity” and case analysis in the process of interpreting,and tries to summarize interpreting difficulties and problems,and adopt corresponding methods for interpreting,it can provide valuable experience in the interpreting of such articles for the future.In this paper,the author explores the application of the theory of “syntactic linearity”in simultaneous interpretation from three aspects,including segmentation,amplification,and repetition.The author analyzes cases which are typical and characteristic in the text,this thesis aims to study how interpreter can make better use of syntactic linearity strategies in simultaneous interpretation to reduce memory load and save efforts for listening,comprehending,and improving the fluency,accuracy,and completeness of output.
