Research On Death Theme In Marguerite Yourcenar's Works

Marguerite Yourcenar is an outstanding French writer of the 20 th century.She has great depth thought and is good at writing historical novels.This paper takes The labyrinth of the world trilogy:Pious memories,Archives of the North,What in eternity,A man of no reputation,Anna sister,One flick solves a thousand sorrows,Drill diligently and Hadrian's memoirs as the main research object,from the author's life experience,times context,works connotation,spiritual concept and other aspects,to analyze the "death theme" in her novels,form a more comprehensive perspective to understand the great ideological connotation of Yourcenar herself and her works.in addition to the introduction and epilogue part,there are three chapters,which are as follows:In the introduction part,this paper summarizes the research status of Yourcenar and her works at home and abroad,finds out the lack of current research,introduces the research perspective of this paper,and introduces the research methods and significance of this paper.The first chapter,through detailed text analysis,summarizes the usual death plots and death narrative methods in Yourcenar's works.This chapter focuses on the female images in Yourcenar's works,which are missing in other studies,summarizes the causes of death of female images,and analyzes the values of Yourcenar on woman in society,family and love.When describing death,the author uses multiple narrative perspectives to reveal the inner activities of the characters,and pays attention to the environment and details of the death plot.The second chapter,taking the novel text as the starting point,summarizes the characteristics of the death consciousness of the characters in the work,and perspective the death view of Yourcenar.According to her life experience and personal experience,the author traces the motivation of death theme in her works.The third chapter,Discuss the value of death discourse in the text.According to the theory of death aesthetics,this paper analyzes the narrative structure function of death discourses,the aesthetic value of death image,and the theme connotation of death discourses.The conclusion summarizes the thesis as a whole and points out the specific connotation of the theme of death in the novel,Through the theme of death,Yourcenar expresses her deep concern about individual living conditions and human fate.
