This is an interpretation practice report.The author has been engaged in foreign affairs for seven years in Tianfu College of Southwest University of Finance and Economics.During this period,the author has mainly conducted conference interpretations of the foreign etiquette receptions,programme lectures,academic exchanges and cooperation agreements of Tianfu College.As an interpreter,the main interpretation methods involve consecutive interpretation,simultaneous interpretation,whisper interpretation and liaison interpretation.Conference interpretation is the main type of interpretation the author has conducted.Through a long-term practice,the author finds that interpreters in higher education not only need to have a deep understanding of the current situation of higher education in China and the mainstream international higher education model,but also need to have solid professional competence,extensive professional knowledge and high political sensitivity.However,due to the differences in cultural background and values in the process of cross-cultural communication,interpreters usually neglect cultural and pragmatic factors,which leads to the misunderstanding and incorrectly decoding of the source language,and consequently leads to interpretation failures.Keynote conference interpretation is a major type of conference interpretations in colleges and universities.This type of conference often contains obvious political characteristics,cultural-specific words and expressions with Chinese characteristic.Based on the author's interpretation practice of the opening ceremony of new campus of Tianfu College,this thesis makes a detailed analysis of this interpreting task.Under the guidance of four principles of cross-cultural pragmatics,namely,speech act pragmatics,sociocultural pragmatics,contrast pragmatics and interlanguage pragmatics,this thesis conducts interpretation case studies and analysis on the methods of adding,omitting,explaining and repeating.This article is divided into five chapters.The author firstly introduces the source and purpose of the topic,the problems,methods and significance of the study.The first chapter briefly introduces the actual situation of Tianfu College of Southwest University of Finance and Economics,as well as the background of the interpretation task is introduced,and the characteristics of the interpretation task are briefly analyzed.Then,the client's requirements for this interpretation task are analyzed from two aspects:quality and duration.Chapter two describes the task of interpretation from three perspectives:before,during and after the interpretation.In chapter three,the author uses the cases in the interpretation and makes an analysis based on cross-cultural pragmatics to try to find out the inadequacies of his own interpretation,and summarizes and refines them in chapter four and in chapter five to provide experience and reference for college interpreters.
