This paper examines the development of seal cutting in Qianjia period of Qing Dynasty.This paper systematically classifies the identity of seal engraver in Qianjia period into three categories: "scholar","commoners" and "merchant",and then analyzes the differences of seal engraving mentality,aesthetic taste and artistic characteristics of different identities.In the mentality of seal cutting,the scholars took seal cutting as the "spare skill" to send feelings,while the commoners were regarded as "professional workers",and the professional imprinted people with the attributes of businessmen made a living from it.In the aesthetic interest of seal cutting,the literati imprinted people kept the aesthetic pursuit of "elegance" and "ancient" in seal cutting.And commoners are more concerned about seal cutting in the "interest" expression;In terms of artistic characteristics,the scholars inherited the artistic tradition of "imprinting the Qin and Han dynasties" and pursued the "Cangjin and quaint elegance" of the seal,but the commoners advocated breaking the shackles of the teachers of the Qin and Han dynasties and seeking a new way out for the seal.At the same time,due to the influence of "identity",the communication of seal cutting presents many differences.From the perspective of "identity" to investigate the art of seal cutting in Qianjia period,it can directly reflect the general trend of the development of seal cutting,and can also find the differences among individuals in this general trend,etc.It is these commonalities and differences that constitute the development of seal cutting in Qianjia period.
