The Research Of The Project That The Rise And Fall Of Sima Family’s Imperial Power In Eastern Jin Dynasty

In the Eastern Jin Dynasty,the imperial power was extremely weak.However,the imperial power of the Eastern Jin Dynasty is not a political ornament after all.It is not clear what position it occupies in the political arena of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and how the imperial power changed in the past 100 years.From the point of view of Sima s imperial power in the Eastern Jin Dynasty,this paper analyses the subjective and objective reasons affecting the change of imperial power,in order to try to sort out a track of the change of imperial power in the Eastern Jin Dynasty.At the beginning of the Eastern Jin Dynasty,although the Emperor Yuan of Eastern Jin had certain "benevolence" and "prestige",the imperial power itself did not have much strength.Since then,both Emperor Yuan of Eastern Jin and Wang Dun have broken the balance between the two sides for the expansion of their own interests,and also failed because of the collective opposition of the gentry.The Emperor Ming of Eastern Jin took the opportunity of eliminating Wang Dun and continued to extend the imperial power in a relatively steady way.However,the gentry by Yu Liang launched a coup at the end of the Emperor Ming of Eastern Jin’ s death,which made his efforts to extend the imperial power frustrated.From the death of the Emperor Ming of Eastern Jin in the three year of Taining (Ad 325)to that of the Emperor Xiaowu of Eastern Jin in the first year of Taiyuan(Ad 376),the emperors of the Eastern Jin Dynasty had hardly any effective political activities during the fifty years.Nevertheless,a considerable number of people have made their own efforts to maintain the authority of the Royal family.For example,Empress Dowager Chu and her father Zhu Pou of the Yang Di Chu’s family,and Simayu;who has been nominally in charge of the central government for more than 20 years.They made considerable contributions to maintaining stability in the middle of the Eastern Jin Dynasty.Although the lowest point of imperial power was during Simayu s reign as emperor,their contribution to the royal family at the time of its central adminntest,which made Sima s imperial power lose the possible military support in fact,and also made the Sima Royal Family lose the opportunity to consolidate the imperial power finally.This is also one of the important reasons for its demise.The imperial power was finally revived in the Kingdom Of Song dynasties.istration was still worthy of affirmation.This is the subjective effort of the royalty or loyalty to the royalty.In addition,Yu Liang Brothers from the Yu Family in Yingchuan County and Huan Wen from Huan Family in Zhaoguo County ruled the Eastern Jin Dynasty successively.During the reign of the Yu brothers,they used to be "allowed to rule by law" and "quite allowed to impose severe punishment".Although the results of these activities were limited and their starting point was for the "Family interests" of the Yu family,they objectively contributed to the strengthening of the authority of the central government in the Eastern Jin Dynasty.ln this sense,Huan Wen also made the same contribution,although his policy of "merging official and provincial posts" and"Determining Resident Registration in the Year of Gengxu" was not necessarily to serve the Sima Royal Family.With Huan Wen’s failure in usurping Jin Dynasty,the results of these policies may be inherited by the Sima Royal Family.Later,when Xie An took office,on the one hand,he continued to strengthen the central authority,on the other hand,he also made great efforts to cooperate with the Emperor Xiaowu of Eastern Jin to extend the imperial power.In the 10th year of the Taiyuan Dynasty(Ad 385),Xie An,who had voluntarily withdrawn from the central government;died.After years of strengthening the central authority,he finally fell into the hands of the Royal family.Emperor Xiaowu of Eastern Jin took control of the imperial power and achieved "Have the highest decision-making pow/er."But soon fell into a fight with his brother Sima Daozi,and lost the opportunity to really grasp the troops of the Beifu soldiers.Sima Royal Family was completely defeated,and the imperial power was finally revived in the Song Dynasties.
