This translation project is based on the academic essay "Interactions With Robots:The Truths We Reveal About Ourselves",which was written by Elizabeth Broadbent and published in Annual Review of Psychology in 2017.This essay reviews the current application of social robots and delves into the psychology behind the relationships between human and social robots. In recent years, there has been a rapid development of social robots. The social robot is a fairly recent branch of robotics and sparks concerns. Its application not only brings benefits to human beings but also causes concerns about deception, privacy, job loss, safety, and the loss of human relationships. It is hoped that this translation can provide valuable references for Chinese scholars and contribute to the development of this technology in China.Peter Newmark categorized texts into three major types on the basis of language functions:expressive text, informative text, and vocative text. The source text of this translation project is objective and information-loaded,and terms, nominal structures, passive voice and long and complex sentences are extensively used. Therefore,it can be classified as informative text. The main method adopted in the translation is communicative translation. However, semantic translation is also adopted because these two methods cannot be separated mechanically.Under the guidance of these two translation methods, flexible translation techniques are applied, including conversion, amplification, division, reinventing sentence structures and the change of the voices. This commentary is divided into four parts. The first part briefly introduces the source text, the author and text features. The second part describes Peter Newmark's text typology and the methods of semantic translation and communicative translation. The third part illustrates the translation techniques at lexical level and syntactical level,The fourth part is the conclusion,in which the translator shares the experience of translating informative text.
