Reading as a vital part of English study has continually attracted the attention of schooling professionals and English teachers.However,at present,junior high schools in China generally use traditional teacher-centered approach to teach English reading.This teaching method ignores the cultivation of students' reading ability,the training of their reading strategies,and the improvement of students' active learning.It is imperative to use advanced educational theories and technologies to solve this problem.Taking the theory of constructivism as the theoretical foundation,this study attempts to explore the role of computer-assisted instruction under the guidance of the Multiple Intelligence Theory in junior high school students' English reading teaching,furthermore,it aims to solve the practical problems in traditional teacher-centered reading teaching.Three research questions are to be addressed in the research project:1.What are the changes of participants' reading strategies after the application of multiple entry by the effective use of computer?2.How does applying Multiple Entry Points to computer-based English reading teaching and learning have effect on active learning of students?3.To what extent does the Multiple Entry Points based on CALL contexts impact on students' English reading in a junior high school?This research was conducted at Si He Dang Junior High School in Lingyuan City,Liaoning Province,from 3 September 2018 to 9 January 2019,for a total of 18 weeks.One hundred and eight students from two parallel classes in the second grade had been singled out as participants.One of the two is the experimental class(EC)and the other one is the control class(CC).And it takes Questionnaires,Tests,and Interviews as the research methods.All collected data were analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative analytical methods with the help of SPSS 19.0.The research results show that the application of Multiple Intelligence Theory to computer-based English reading teaching can improve students' performance,make students use reading strategies more frequently,and it also can improve students' active learning.Therefore,it is feasible to apply the Multiple Intelligence Theory to computer-based English reading teaching.Finally,pedagogical implications and some suggestions are discussed,which are anticipated to be favorable for students' learning,teachers' teaching and further research.
