English extracurricular reading generally refers to students' extracurricular reading in addition to the English textbooks used in schools.On the one hand,students have enhanced their accumulation of basic knowledge of grammar,vocabulary and culture.On the other hand,students' interest in English reading has been enhanced,which also lays a good foundation for the improvement of reading achievements in English examination.According to the literature,there are relatively few studies on the correlation between senior high school students' English extracurricular reading and reading achievements.Therefore,the author aims to explore the correlation between the influential factors of senior high school students' English extracurricular reading and reading achievements.The main research questions are as follows:1.What are the main factors affecting the reading achievements of senior high school students in English extracurricular reading?2.What is the correlation between these main factors and reading achievements?There were 122 senior high school students and English teachers from No.19 middle school in Jinzhou as the research participants.By using the methods of questionnaire and interview,the data were collected and sorted out.With the help of SPSS Spearman and Pearson correlation analysis,the main findings are as follows:(1)Reading motivation,time,quantity and reading habits are the main factors affecting students' English reading achievements in extracurricular reading.(2)Students' reading motivation and habits are highly correlated with reading achievement,while reading time and reading quantity are correlated with reading achievement.Based on the above findings,the author puts forward some teaching suggestions for English teachers and students to cultivate students' good interest and habits in English extracurricular reading so as to increase students' extracurricular reading quantity and improve students' reading ability and score in English test.
