An Ecolinguistic Study Of Chinese Internet Catchwords From 2009 To 2018

Since the 20 th century,while industrialization has created enormous material wealth for human beings,it has also created all kinds of global problems.They seriously damaged the ecological environment and ecosystem.Nowadays,the ecological crisis is severer and severer,ecological problem has become an important issue which should be solved urgently.At the same time,serious language ecological crises,such as language endangerment,language extinction and decreasing language diversity problem,have also appeared inside the language.Just under such a background,ecolinguistics emerged.This subject focuses on the study of the ecological factors of language and the relationship between language and ecology.It also tries to reveal the interaction between language and ecological environment,and makes people realize the importance of them.In 1994,China formally and comprehensively connected into the Internet,the Internet age officially started.Internet media is the soil that Internet language depends on for existence and development.With the fertile soil,Internet language has mushroomed.Chinese Internet catchwords in Internet language has already entered into people's daily life.It is a new member of language system and has humorous language style.Especially in the last decade,the rapid development and spread of Chinese Internet catchwords has caught scholars' attention,and they have tried to study Chinese Internet catchwords from many perspectives.However,in these studies,the research of them from the ecolinguistic view is not much.Based on such background,this thesis uses diversity and dynamic nature of language in Haugenian approach of ecolinguistics and tries to study these two questions:(1)How do Chinese Internet catchwords reflect the diversity and dynamic nature of language?(2)What impact do Chinese Internet catchwords have on the language ecological environment?According to the study of Chinese Internet catchwords from 2009 to 2018,the major findings are:(1)Chinese Internet catchwords come into being from thelanguage ecological environment,and the diversity of ecology determines the diversity of Internet catchwords,which is reflected in the types,forms and characteristics.And there is survival of the fittest in Internet catchwords,which is constantly changing from old to new.So it has obvious dynamic nature.The relationship between diversity and dynamic nature of Chinese Internet catchwords is not separate,they complement each other.(2)Chinese Internet catchwords are produced in the language ecological environment and natural ecological environment,so their diversity and dynamic natures will also have an impact on the language ecological environment.On the one hand,the diversity of Chinese Internet catchwords enriches the language ecological environment on a certain extent,which makes the expression of Chinese more precise and vivid.On the other hand,there are some disharmonious factors in Chinese Internet catchwords,which lead to the pollution of the language ecological environment.This thesis can help us to do deeper research of Chinese Internet catchwords from the perspective of ecolinguistics in the future,and provide a new research object for ecolinguistics.
