On The C-E Translation Of Martial Arts Fiction From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

Based on the theory of Eco-translatology,this study is aimed to study the advantages and disadvantages of the English version of Desolate Era in the light of eco-translatology,multi-dimensional transformations,reader's response and translator quality.Through a comparative analysis of Chinese-English versions,it's found that the translation generally conforms to "the degree of holistic adaptation and selection".In the dimension of linguistic transformation,the translator adopts translation strategies such as literal translation,free translation,and omission,as well as tactics such as transference of sentence structure,change of word orders,addition and deletion.Therefore,the features of the original language are preserved,and the equivalence between the source language of Chinese and the target language of English is achieved.In the dimension of cultural transformation,the translator adopts the foreignization,adding catalogues to certain culture-loaded words and introducing the cultural background to the target readers to retain traditional Chinese cultural factors.In the dimension of communicative transformation,the translator considers the reading habits of the western target readers and pays attention to the readability of the stories to convey the message of the original fiction.However,some of the free translation leads to the insufficient expressiveness of the original texts,and the mistranslation and cultural loss of some dictions may confuse western readers,which is a common problem of the translations of martial arts fiction.From the foreign readers'comments on the book,we can see that the English version is generally embraced by readers.Translators of web martial arts fiction should not only own strong bilingual ability,keen judgment and a responsible attitude of translations,but also be familiar with the martial arts field and pay attention to accumulating experience.This study has some theoretical significance of promoting the English translation of web martial arts fiction and at the same time,the author hopes to make a little contribution to introduce the Chinese web fiction to the world.
