Erasmus enjoyed the reputation of "Erasmus of Christendom " during the Middle Ages Renaissance, which proved his influence at that time.Erasmus proposed to "explore the original source of Christian faith" in 1516,so he re-translated the Bible from Greek into Latin, which not only became the original version of Luther’s translation of the Bible into German. In addition, the Holy see has also modified the original Vulgate translation according to this version. It can be seen from the works of "Antibarbari ","Adagiorum collectanea ","Enchiridion Militis Christiani ",etc.,and the compilation of Cicero’s "on obligation",as well as his correspondence with the humanists at that time.Erasmus was influenced by stoic ethics.Erasmus was in the era of Renaissance and religious reform, which had a profound impact on Erasmus and his role in the political and ideological life of Europe.Although Erasmus is a devout Christian,he praises the meaning and goal of earthly life, and tries to put forward the proposition of Christian philosophy by linking Christian faith with human nature, and advocates the combination of human nature from good and Christian faith.Erasmus wrote "On the Freedom of the Will",to oppose the radical reform ideas of such fanatics as Luther. This article shows that God endows people with free will, emphasizing that people can be redeemed by virtue of free will under the pursuit of moral cultivation, but he also admitted that he needs the help of God’s grace.Erasmus thought about the doctrine of free will in Christianity from the standpoint of humanism. The purpose of Erasmus’ theory of free will was to praise the rationality of human beings, improve their status and give them the ability to choose freely. This kind of thinking,on the contrary, traps him, prevents him from understanding the inner meaning of free will, and only regards free will as some kind of free action.
