In the history of modern Chinese literature,the academic world has been focusing on independent research in urban literature and rural literature,but it ignores the special space that exists between the two-small town.In recent years,with the further refinement and deepening of research,the academic circles have made some achievements in the research on small town literature and small town culture,but Still not perfect enough.This is mainly manifested in the ambiguity of the definition of its concept and connotation,as well as the limitations of the understanding of value and meaning.Therefore,this article takes Shatin's novels as an example,trying to explain the related issues of Xiaocheng,thus increasing the academic attention to Xiaocheng literature.Specifically,this paper interprets Sha Ting's novels in the small city,feels the image of the small town in the northwest of Sichuan created by the author,analyzes the spatial image and character psychology in his text,further explores the uniqueness of his small town,and elaborates on Shatin's novels.The narrative method and the formation of Sha Ting's "small city consciousness" to establish the significance and value of his small town novel creation.The text has four chapters:The first chapter analyzes the image of the small city space in Sha Ting's novels.In his works,there are four kinds of space images of teahouses,streets,post offices and temples.Together they form the image of the small town in the northwest of Shatin,which carries the character and culture of the small town.Specifically,the teahouse is the public “window” of the small town.The street is a multi-purpose gathering place for the small town.The post office is the “information transmitter”and the temple is the “small tradition” building.With these spatial images,the small towns in northwest Sichuan can be distinguished from cities,villages and other small cities.The second chapter discusses the survival landscape of the small city in ShaTing's novels.In Shatin's pen,in addition to the physical landscape,there are also the existence of characters,which are combined to form a vivid and lifelike picture of a small city.Among them,people occupy a dominant position and play a key role.In the novel,Sha Ting portrayed four types of characters: powers,intellectuals,ordinary people and local robes.He wrote the psychological state and living conditions of different groups.Through the specific portrayal of the characters,it not only shows the true style of the small town in the northwest of Sichuan,but also reflects the cultural character of the small city at that time.The third chapter expounds the narrative style of Shatin's novels.After discussing the uniqueness of Sha Ting's small town,he also analyzes the narrative style of Sha Ting's novel creation,which is conducive to a deep understanding of the characteristics of Sha Ting's small town creation.The narrative style of his small town novels is embodied in two aspects: narrative perspective and narrative discourse.The diversification of narrative perspective reflects the author's unique small town thinking,and the uniqueness of narrative discourse makes the novel full of charm and style.The fourth chapter analyzes the formation of Shatin's "small town consciousness".Shatin takes the small city as the entry point and judges the value of social history and culture.The collection of aesthetic inclinations is the “small town consciousness” of Shatin.The "small city consciousness" can be embodied as the homeland consciousness,the enlightenment consciousness and the anxiety consciousness.They are formed in the three cultural spaces of northwest Sichuan,Shanghai and Yan'an,and finally integrated into the "small city consciousness",thus affecting the literary creation of Shatin.It affects his examination and reflection on society,history and culture.
