Praise is a speech act that is commonly used in polite communication.The research on praise at home and abroad has achieved a lot of results,but there are relatively few comparative studies on Chinese and Russian praising.Based on these studies,this paper conducts a pragmatic comparative analysis of the colloquial speech materials selected from TV series of the two countries,and uses the questionnaire to collect the first-hand materials to analyze the pragmatic side of using praises by Russian and Chinese people.This paper mainly uses two research methods to find out the similarities and differences between Chinese and Russian praises,and analyzes its deep cultural reasons: these are qualitatively and quantitatively methods.The main goal of this study is to further expand the research on praise and apply its results to the teaching of Chinese language in Russia,help Russian teachers of Chinese language and students who study Chinese to develop their knowledge in this sphere.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction,which introduces the research background,significance,object,current situation and trend of this topic at home and abroad,research methods and theoretical basis.The second part is a comparative analysis of Chinese and Russian praises,which is divided into three aspects: topic,vocabulary and function.Firstly,the author decides which aspects of praise the characters of TV series usually use,then,these aspects are considered as the most commonly used praise topics.In the analysis of vocabulary,firstly,we point out frequently used adjectives,adverbs,nouns and verbs.Secondly,in order to let other teachers of Chinese language be more flexible in using the results of the study,we divide adjectives and nouns into groups according to its theme.In the analysis of praising functions,the collected praises are classified into small groups according to the main communicative goal.Lastly,we find out the similarities and differences between the two languages in these three aspects.The third part is the research of the pragmatic situation of using praises by Russian and Chinese people.We design a questionnaire for each side: Russian students and Chinese people.Thereafter,we use the questionnaires to hold the research on the pragmatics of praise for Chinese and Russian students.In this way,we find out the pragmatic characteristics of Chinese and Russian praises,compare the results of the survey,and point out the common errors that are made by Russian students while praising in Chinese language.The fourth part,based on the results of the first two parts,concludes the factors that causing pragmatic errors in using praises by Russian student who study Chinese language,and problems that are related to this errors.After that we put forward suggestions for teachers of Chinese language to decide these problems.Finally,in the conclusion the researcher summarizes the results that were received and the possible development of studies on Chinese praise in the future.
