As of December 31,2018,the number of Confucius institutes in the world has reached 548.With the rapid development,South Korea has become a typical country in the construction boom of Confucius institutes around the world.The first Confucius institute was established in Seoul in 2004.At present,South Korea has established 23 Confucius institutes,which covers the whole geographical area of the South Korea and has entered a new normal development stage.Therefore,it is necessary to complete the new tasks of "improving quality and increasing efficiency"and "transforming and upgrading".Chinese teaching in South Korea has a long history and a developed market.In such a market environment,Confucius institute in South Korea must actively play their social role in order to complete the new tasks of "quality and efficiency" and"transformation and upgrading".Social role playing includes the stages of role expectation,role comprehension,role practice,role deviation and role coordination.The question studied in this paper is whether Confucius institute in Korea have actively played their social role,What is the discrepancy between role practice and role expectation,and what measures should be taken in order to better play their social roles.Understanding the social role expectations of Confucius institute in South Korea must be based on the analysis of the Chinese teaching market in South Korea.Chapter 2 in this thesis,through to the summarizes and analyzes of the research literature on Chinese language teaching in South Korea,to makes a comparative analysis of the demand and supply of the Chinese language teaching market in South Korea,so as to obtain the supply and demand characteristics and contradictions of the Chinese language teaching market in South Korea.In conclusion,the Chinese language teaching market in South Korea is in short supply and lacks systematicness and lacks stability on the whole.In addition,the unbalanced development between public and private Chinese education in South Korea affects the sustainable development of Chinese language education in South Korea.Understanding the social role practice of Confucius institutes must be derived from the work practice of Confucius institute.Chapter 3 in this thesis,this article mainly through to materials for the Confucius institute conference from 2015 to 2018.Thought to the analysis of materials for the Confucius institute conference,to analyze the development of the Confucius institute in South Korea,supply and demand situation,to get the basic development of the Confucius institute in South Korea,the supply and demand situation and the characteristics of supply,Chapter 4 in this thesis,The role practice and role expectation of Confucius institute are compared and analyzed.By comparing the Chinese teaching market in South Korea with the development of Confucius institute in South Korea,to analyze the market functions and social relations of Confucius institute in South Korea,to get the market functions of Confucius institute in South Korea and the interaction between Confucius institute and Chinese teaching subjects in South Korea.Chapter 5:Based on the above analysis,the social role deviation of Confucius institute in Korea is concluded.According to the analysis,it is concluded that Confucius institute in South Korea need to improve their social influence and credibility,improve their professional degree and scientific research level,and give full play to the advantages of the platform,strengthen the links between Confucius institute in South Korea and between Confucius institute in South Korea and local Chinese teaching subjects.And summarizes the innovation and shortcomings of this paper.
