The continuous innovation and advancement of computer technology have brought many new working modes to the field of translation. The translation mode of MT+CAT+PE proposed by Associate Professor Xu Bin is one of them.Translation mode MT+CAT+PE includes machine translation,computer-aided translation and post-editing.This translation project adopts the translation mode of MT+CAT+PE,applies modern translation technology to creative text, deeply explores the potential of combining machine translation with creative text. The author first uses Baidu Translate to pre-translate the source text The Epic of America(Chapter 10)and then imports the machine translation outputs into the translation software Memo Q.The author veritably records the post-editing process of the machine translation outputs by screen recording software, and then analyzes the translator's thinking activities in detail. In the analysis process, the author mainly uses the research method of the think-aloud protocols. This method can guide the subject to paraphrase the thinking activities carried out in the brain into words. In order to record the thinking process of post-editing more realistically, both the subject and researcher of this study is the author of this report. This report summarizes the typical mistakes existing in machine translation outputs and analyzes the modifications in the post-editing process. It also analyzes the influence of machine translation on text style and the post-editing process for adjusting the target text style according to the source text style. In this study, the author adopts a combination of screen recording technology and think-aloud protocols.Through this study,it is found that this novel research method can reflect the translator's thinking activities in post-editing process more intuitively and visually. The author believe that this research method can provide experience and reference for other scholars to study translation process and to a certain extent promote the development of translator training and machine translation.
