Happiness In The Eyes Of 5-6 Years Old Children

To a better implement in a practical level,this study selects 31 children from a large class in one of Chengdu's public kindergartens as participants.Trying to understand children's happiness from their point of view.Based on the grounded theory,using Nvivo11 qualitative data analysis tools,we code,analyze and discuss the data.It is concluded that happiness in the eyes of children aged 5-6 is as follows: happiness comes from "my own existence";the satisfaction of needs;internal feelings and external reactions;the establishment of children's culture and children's "pro-nature".According to the views of children,some conclusions can be drawn:(1)the existence of children means their happiness;(2)children's happiness,that is children can be satisfied;(3)children's happiness is subjective as well as objective;(4)children's happiness is independent of reality;(5)happiness comes from their sense of participation;(6)the process of a child's happiness,that is,the process of following nature.From the cross-cultural perspective,we found that there are some similarities and dissimilarities between children at home and abroad.The main thing for children in common is the source of happiness,which comes from diet,games,nature,buildings,color and family.Secondly,happiness of children is the challenge of adult authority.Thirdly,children eager for a gentle treatment by teachers.Lastly,children have their own happiness plan with a self-examination.The different thing is children at abroad prefer to the challenging games but children at home love conventional games.From the perspective of the comparison between adults and children,there are some commonalities:(1)Both of them have needs for happiness;(2)They believe that happiness is to do something.The differences are as follows:(1)Children's happiness is in change and comes from their feelings of current life;(2)Adults' happiness is stable and expected,and they prefer to be happy as it should be.Finally,based on the experience of happiness of children aged 5-6,this study puts forward the following suggestions:(1)Respect their being is children's happiness;(2)The right amount of appropriate education is what let life grow happily.
