Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff,born in 1873,is a 20th-century Russian famous composer,conductor and pianist who favors in romanticism.He has produced a large number of well-known and influential music works all his life,most of which are piano works." Piano Sonata No.2 in B flat minor " is one of the representative piece of Rachmaninoff's piano solo works,and it is also one of his only two Piano Sonatas.On the basis of fully understanding the background of the creation of Piano Sonata No.2 in B flat minor,the author compares and analyzes its three versions(the original version of 1913,the revised version of 1931 and the version of Horowitz)with the sound recordings of performers of different period and nationalities,so as to improve the musical structure and characteristics of the work.At the same time,the author combines the technical and musical difficulties encountered in the actual playing process,through research and analysis and proposes relevant solutions.Through the above comparative and performance analysis of Rachmaninov's Piano Sonata No.2 in B flat minor,the author aims to provide sufficient theoretical and technical support for the research and actual perfomance of the work.
