Inheritance From Vanishing:Mu Ouchu And Kunqu Training Institutes(1921—1942)

The intangible cultural heritage of the opera,represented by Kunqu Opera,has been increasingly concerned by all sectors of society in current China.On the other hand,it faces the impacts such as inheritance difficulties and over-commercialization.Therefore,how to protect and inherit intangible cultural heritage is an urgent problem to solve.Reviewing the history,there was such a person called Mu Ouchu.He entered into the Kunqu Opera world as a businessman in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Repubic of China.With his help,Kunqu Opera could reappear in crisis and continue to exist,which let us still enjoy Kunqu Opera in theatrical form nowadays.The object of the article is the experience of Mr.Mu Ouchu and his protection of Kunqu Opera,which would be studied with history theory.The article examines and analyzes his experience accurately and objectively from his personal preference of Kunqu opera to cultural mission and extending development.Although there was no concept of intangible cultural heritage at that time,Mu Weichu’s actions protected the very characters of intangible cultural heritage which are historical continuity,authenticity and integrity.The full text is divided into three chapters.In the first chapter,Mr.Mu Qichu’s experience of staying abroad is used as an entry point to explain the change of his ideas,which affects his different understanding of drama before and after studying abroad,and then discusses his feelings and protection activities.In the second chapter,the article will sort out the scene of the decline of the Kunqu Opera at that time,and then write on the history of the ups and downs of Kunqu training institutes,so as to examine and analyze why his Kunqu Opera protection measures can solve the problem of Kunqu Opera inheritance.Finally,the third chapter summarizes the inspiration of Mr.Mu Yinchu’s dramatic concept to today’s people which is to protect it from an aesthetic and cultural perspective,build on the meaning of the show and use various methods to preserve its stage presentation.
