Kunqu Opera: The Hundred Years Review And Thinking

Kunqu Opera is one of the oldest operas in the world. It is the most wonderful representation of Chinese opera arts. In the process of the development of our modern civilization,like other old cultures,Kunqu Opera is being challenged by modern cultures. As an intellectual of the time,we must cherish very much and do our best to promote our distinct cultural heritage,we must undertake important tasks of protecting the characteristics of our nation's culture and of exploring the routes for the survival and development of our traditional culture.This dissertation reviews the history of Kunqu Opera in the past hundred years,and displays artistic journeys of several generations of performers in the 20th century. The dissertation also summarizes active explorations in studying Kunqu Opera by various social circles,and tries to find out an effective route for the development of Kunqu Opera based on practice and experience.
