The translation material of this report is chosen from the book Confusion of Civilization: The Way Out for Tibetan Education written by Badeng Nima,a famous Tibetan educator in China.In the book,Professor Badeng Nima extracts the basic laws of Tibetan education from the deep connotation of Tibetan culture,which not only provides detailed first-hand information for the study of Tibetan culture,but also enhances the interaction and exchange between different cultures.The source text mentioned in this translation practice is an excerpt from chapter 3 and 4 in this book,introducing the philosophical basis,primary spirits and psychological structure of Tibetan culture.Translation is a kind of language activity.Through translation,the translator uses the target language to express the information in the source language in an equivalent way.In this report,the translator applies the Word Association Model,the Concept Mediation Model and the Synthetic Phraseology Model to this practice in the view of bilingual mental lexicon,analysing the translator’s retrieval and extraction of his own mental lexicon in the process of translation.Then the translator summarizes the problems and solutions encountered in the translation practice.There are five parts in the translation report.In the introduction part,the translator introduces the background information for this practice.Chapter 1 is task description,including an introduction to the source text,the author of the book and the translation process.Chapter 2 reviews and comments on the study related to bilingual mental lexicon research,and analyses the mechanism of the Word Association Model,the Concept Mediation Model as well as the Synthetic Phraseology Model.The third chapter is the main body of the thesis.In this part,30 case studies from the book Confusion of Civilization: The Way Out for Tibetan Education are given and analysed within three Lexical Access Model.The last part sums up the difficulties and inspirations the translator has in the translation practice.
