The Criticism About Goethe's In China

Goethe is a world-renowned writer who dedicated his life to the study of literary creation,literary theory,natural science,etc.So far,the history of Goethe's criticism in China has lasted for over one hundred years.In terms of criticism,the different interpretations of Goethe and his works made by Chinese scholars in different periods have obvious style and cultural characteristics of the times,and the overall style and features of the development of Chinese modern and contemporary literature in the past more than a century have been taken care of behind it.This paper attempts to study the criticism of Goethe in China vertically as well as the era difference and characteristics in different contexts,to explore the realistic reasons and the spiritual intension of the times,and to probe into the development and evolution of the trend of thought in Chinese literature in the 20 th century.China's acceptance of Goethe's works and his thoughts have experienced ups and downs.It can be roughly divided into five stages,namely,the "Goethe hot" from the "May Fourth" to the Anti-Japanese War(1919-1937),"Goethe cold" from the war of resistance against Japanese aggression to the founding of new China(1938-1949),From the early days of new China to the "cultural revolution",Goethe studies fell into a silent silence(1950-1976),Since the war of resistance against Japan was in the downturn of Goethe's research from 1976 to now,it is combined into one chapter.the overall recovery of research on Goethe in the new era(1977-1989 ?),the new situation of the study on Geothe since the 1990s(1990 to present).According to the different periods and the evolution of the trend of thought in Chinese literature,the main part of this paper is divided into four chapters.Chapter one discusses the relationship between the spirit of subjectivity since the "May Fourth" and the "Werther hot",the connotation of Goethe's time respected by domestic scholars and the spirit of Goethe in the revolutionary literature of the 1930 s.Chapter two discusses the research of Goethe under the background of nationalism.Mainly reflected in two aspects: one is the study of Goethe has gradually gone silent.The other,the "Werther hot" has obviously cooled down.Faust's spirit which is full of continuous progress and self-improvement is quite popular among scholars.They have continuously combined with the times background of the War of Resistance against Japan,sublimling the unremitting struggle and indomitable national integrity and to encourage the War of Resistance.Chapter three discusses the criticism of Goethe under the New Enlightenment trend.The 1980 s was marked by the " awakening of man",an era in which human beings were rediscovered and reflected,and the "subjectivity" of human beings was re-constructed.Scholars began to focus on Goethe's implied humanitarianism in his works,seeking the possibility for the harmonious coexistence of individual and society.Chapter four discusses the study of Goethe from the multicultural perspective.In the context of consumerism,the spirit of "humanism" and commercialization is playing a game,and the research of Goethe presents a tearing state.With the advent of globalization and the revival of Chinese traditional culture,the cross-civilization horizon of Goethe study is becoming increasingly obvious.Unlike before,Chinese scholars have abandoned the traditional position of passive acceptance and turned to study the influence of Chinese culture on Goethe's creation.
