A Study On Willingness To Communicate In Mandarin Among Ethnic Chinese Filipino Students

This paper combines qualitative and quantitative methods to investigate the willingness to communicate in mandarin among ethnic Chinese Filipino students.This paper is divided into three parts:the first part is quantitative investigation.First,combining literature reading experience and observation of research objects,this paper selects two independent variables,"self-perceived communicative competence"and"intergroup attitude toward China",together with the dependent variable,"willingness to communicate",this paper conduct a quantitative research in the form of questionnaires.The results of the above three variables and the background variables were analyzed and discussed.After,combined with the long-term observation and the content of the interview,this paper summarizes the other three factors which affect the students'willingness to communicate in Chinese after class.In the end,combined with the learning methods and experience of excellent language learners,this paper shares some suggestions on how to improve language proficiency and willingness to communicate.The results show that the students have higher willingness to communicate in the "speaking" and "comprehension”modules.The willingness to communicate "reading" and "writing" modules is relatively low.SPSS statistical software was used to analyze the questionnaire data,and the following conclusions were drawn:1.There was a significant intensity correlation between self-perceived communicative competence and willingness to communicate.2.There is a moderate correlation between intergroup attitude and willingness to communicate.The research results of this paper will not only reflect the real psychological state and influencing factors of ethnic Chinese Filipino students' willingness to communicate after class,but also show the positive factors of excellent language learners.It is hoped that through the specific application of the research results,language students' awareness of willingness to communicate can be inspired,their thinking can be expanded,and their willingness to communicate can be improved through different ways,so as to improve their adaptability in China,life satisfaction and positive feelings towards China.
