| Located in the northwest of China,Xinjiang was occupied by many nomadic ethnic groups in history.As an important passage of the ancient "Silk Road",it was the place of extensive exchanges and collisions of Chinese and foreign cultures.Cultural and artistic activities in Xinjiang are flourishing with music art,especially instrumental art as an important carrier of emotions and wisdom of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang.From historical records,it can be seen that there have been hundreds of musical instruments in this vicissitudes of land,among which the plucked musical instruments of various forms are especially numerous.As an important representative instrument on the Silk Road,Pipa art has been handed down to the present for thousands of years with its abundant expressive power providing a broad space for music of different styles.Xinjiang is a multi-ethnic region with mainly Uygur,Kazak,Uzbek ethnic groups dwelling.The unique life styles and cultural activities of contemporary ethnic minorities provide lots of possibilities for music creation of Pipa.This thesis takes the works of Pipa music of ethnic minority style(Uygur and Kazak)in Xinjiang as the research object and studies their styles and expressive techniques. |
