Rural oil painting is the mainstream theme in the history of oil painting, because it intermingles with real life and has a strong realistic color. Many painters choose to study rural oil painting. This paper selects the works of Anton Mauve and Hans Mullet, and analyzes and studies them in combination with self-creation.The works mainly describe the life and scenery of the countryside, depict the labor scene and humanistic dynamics of the rural characters, although the national customs involved in their works are different. However, the rural humanistic scene rich in earthy flavor is the same. The series of "Western Countryside" is based on the theme of rural oil painting, based on the western countryside, and draws lessons from and ends with it.The works of he Anton Mauve and Hans Mullet show the western rural style again in front of the viewer in a new way,and at the same time carry on the new thinking.
