Emotional face is a rich expression of non-verbal stimulus, which contains social information to help people effectively communicate,in order to adapt to unfamiliar environment faster.Previous studies have found that the recognition of the other-race faces is influenced by facial emotions and the processing methods of facial emotions of different races. But in real life, facial emotions are often accompanied by changes in facial expression intensity. In the past, most researchers used facial expression intensity and the other-race faces as separate perception objects to explore, and paid more attention to the other-race emotional faces presented separately. In the perceptual processing of facial expression intensity, the study of facial expression intensity — other-race face is rare. So,will the intensity of expression affect the recognition of the other-race faces? If so,does the effect change with the type of emotion? This study attempts to answer these questions by manipulating facial expression intensity. The study chooses the "learning — recognition" paradigm and designs three experiments to discuss the following three questions: 1)Whether there is the other-race effect in processing different emotional faces;2)the influence of the expression intensity of positive and negative emotions on the recognition of the other-race faces;3)the influence of the individual on the recognition of ethnic and the other-race emotional faces with different expression intensity. The results show that:(1)There was an other-race effect on the recognition of fearful faces. The correct rate of identifying fearful faces of Han nationality was significantly higher than that of identifying fearful faces of Tibetan nationality, and the reaction time was shorter.(2)The correct rate of identifying happy and fearful faces of high-intensity Han and Tibetan is higher than that of low-intensity,and the reaction time is shorter. The correct rate of identifying happy faces of low-intensity Han is higher than that of low-intensity Tibetan, and the reaction time is shorter.(3)The accuracy of identifying fearful and angry faces of high-intensity Han and Tibetan was significantly higher than that of low-intensity faces, and the responsetime was shorter. The accuracy of identifying low-intensity angry faces of Han was significantly higher than that of identifying Tibetan.Research conclusions:There is an other-race effect when subjects process different emotional faces.Emotional intensity has an impact on the recognition of other-race faces. That is,the higher the intensity of expression, the higher the accuracy of recognition of native and other-race faces.
