21st century is the era of digital information,the development of modern information technology makes multimedia technology permeate into all aspects.At the same time,English curriculum standards emphasize the use of multimedia technology and network technology in English teaching,develop English curriculum standard resources actively,improve students’ learning methods,improve the teaching effect.Therefore,it is an useful to use multimedia to integrate English courses,optimize the classroom teaching structure and improve the efficiency of English classroom teaching.In order to understand the application of multimedia courseware in junior high school English teaching more,the author conducted a three month survey and research on a key middle school,and found that multimedia courseware can optimize English teaching,but there are still some problems.Based on constructivism theory and second language acquisition theory as the theoretical basis,this paper studies the application of multimedia courseware in junior high school English teaching by means of literature review,questionnaire survey,interview and other methods according to the design principles of multimedia courseware and puts forward corresponding suggestions for the existing shortcomings.The research questions of this study are as shown below:what is the attitude of students and teachers towards the application of multimedia courseware?What are the advantages and disadvantages of multimedia courseware in English teaching?How to improve?The subjects of this study were 7 English teachers and 200 students in grade 7 of a middle school in Yan Ji.Through the analysis of questionnaire data and the arrangement of interview results,the research finds that multimedia is of great help to teaching,creating a real language environment,attracting students’ interest,enriching classroom activities,and diversifying auxiliary teaching.70%of teachers use multimedia courseware and 80%of students like to use multimedia courseware in class.In terms of courseware production,30%of teachers use courseware matching textbooks and 40%use courseware found online.Teachers who use multimedia courseware will modify it according to the situation of the students in their classes so as to improve the teaching efficiency.However,there are also some problems such as too much distraction of students’ attention,too much attention to form,which is not conducive to observation.Some of these questions come from teachers,some from students,others from the courseware itself.Through a large number of literature reading,practical classroom observation,questionnaire and interview analysis and summary,the author put forward the use of multimedia courseware recoumendations.Firstly,the design of multimedia courseware should take students as the main point.Secondly,the content of teachers’ courseware should be diversified,but it cannot attract too much attention from students.Finally,the information content of multimedia courseware is controlled within a reasonable range.In a word,multimedia teaching is only a teaching method.Although it can bring many advantages,it also has some disadvantages.Multimedia teaching cannot completely replace traditional teaching.Teachers should integrate multimedia teaching with traditional teaching,start from students’ point,make good use of the advantages of multimedia courseware,to achieve a better teaching effect.It is hoped that the research results of this paper can provide some valuable suggestions for English teaching.
