The fifth Dalai Lama ngag dbang rgya mtsho,was the founder of the local regime—dga’ ldan po brang—and highest living Buddha of successive Dalai Lamas in Tibetan Buddhism.It also made him the most influential historical figure in Tibetan history.The achievements of the fifth Dalai Lama in his life are various,involving many fields such as architecture,literature,history,politics,philosophy and religion.Therefore,he has been praised as the "Great Fifth".The fifth Dalai Lama lived in the 17th century.At that time,he was in a special era when the local regime of dga’ldan po brang was established in Tibet and the Empire of Manchu was built in.With the status and influence of Tibetan political and religious leaders,the Dalai Lama played an important role in major historical events of Tibetan,Mongolian and Qing Dynasty.In 1644,the Dalai Lama recorded his life story with his autobiography as the carrier,and named it Dukulaes.This biography has three Glegs bam.As a chronicle biography,it records all the deeds of the Dalai Lama from 1617 to 1681,the year his birth to the year before his death.Its content is extremely detailed.Therefore,Dukula has become an important historical book to understand Tibet of 17th century.On the basis of previous studies,this paper focuses on the relationship between personality style,autonomy and Autobiography of Dukula.Firstly,it discusses the chronologic and background of autobiography,I pointed out that the first and second Glegs bam of Dukula were written in 1675,the third Glegs bam was written in late 1681.Then it analyses the reasons for the completion of Dukula from four aspects:politics and religion,biographical theory,and the author’s own qualifications,as well as the source of information,which is elaborated in the first chapter of the paper.Secondly,from the perspective of bibliography and editorial science,this paper examines the edition problems of Dukula and the similarities and differences between different editions,and explores the internal relationship between them through the interpretation of the secret biography of the fifth Dalai Lama and three different external biographies,discussed which are elaborated in the second chapter of the paper.Thirdly,the style of Dukula is discussed from two aspects of the structure and narrative style of modern biography,which is elaborated in the third chapter of the paper.Finally,with the ideological point of Dukula as the breakthrough point,and using the method of historical anthropology,here we mainly examined the personality of the biographer and its relationship with autobiography.
