Deng Shiru was a great calligrapher and a great master of seal cutting in Qing Dynasty.Firstly,he stood out among many scholars and calligraphers who studied ancient Chinese characters in the Qing Dynasty from the bottom,emerging as the leader of seal characters style in the Qing Dynasty.Secondly,he developed his career from calligraphy to seal cutting and expanded seal cutting expression form and material content.He created the style of "Deng" with his own efforts,and broke the stagnant pattern of seal cutting style since the Ming and Qing Dynasties.Later,this style has influenced the seal cutting style of later comers,including Wu Rangzhi,Zhao Zhiqian,Huang Mufu,Wu Changshuo and so on,and promoted the late Qing Dynasty’s seal cutting to form a situation in which famous artists sprang up like a hundred flowers blooming.Up to now,studying Deng’s seal cutting is still an indispensable required course for many students to learn seal cutting.Deng shiru in study hard career,to combine inscription and calligraphy,inherited the tradition,also carried on the innovation,make the seal characters and seal cutting in the Qing dynasty to a new height,he gave us a lot of research process and results of the place of study:one is the unremitting pursuit of art,made him in the field of stone inscription study far more than other contemporary intellectuals;Second,we should strive for the support of external environment,such as the help of predecessors,peer communication,and the influence of celebrities,so as to form an influential seal cutting research school.Third,grasp the pulse of innovation,grasp their own "luck".This paper focuses on Deng shiru’s experiences on exploration,development and innovation in the field of calligraphy and seal cutting.It also expatiates on thoughts of developing his career from calligraphy to seal cutting and the compatibility between calligraphy and seal cutting,with his influence on the new style and genres of seal cutting in Qing Dynasty.At the same time,I further analyzed the influence on my in-depth study of seal script and its creation,fully absorbed the exploration achievements of Deng shiru and other predecessors,and constantly improved my own level of seal script and its creation.
