The author combs the existing research on semantic shift and finds that the research objects are mostly one or more groups of monosyllabic replacements, and lack of research on semantic shift of disyllabic words.Even the most representative study of the semantic shift of common words,Li Zongjiang(1999)and Wang Weihui(2000),have almost no research on semantic shift of disyllabic words. As we all know, the disyllabic words account for the vast majority in modern Chinese. It is difficult to comprehensively describe the evolution and trajectory of Chinese lexis if the study of semantic shift heavy monosyllabic words but light disyllabic words. This dissertation uses the disyllabic words"rukou, chukou, jinkou"as the research object and based on the Corpus of the Peking University Chinese Linguistic Research Center(CCL)and the basic Chinese ancient library. It mainly studies the semantic shift and the origin of the disyllabic words. We found that they are all derived from the lexicalization of verb-object phrases in ancient Chinese. The disyllabic words"rukou, chukou, jinkou"and their morphemes have a semantic relationship. The semantic relationship has a influence on the lexicalization and semantic shift, which accelerated the lexicalization process of“jinkou”,and the word“rukou”and“chukou”has a corresponding relationship. The words“rukou”and“chukou”will generate assimilation force for the word“jinkou”.Some scholars call it“Polymerization-analogy(????)”.We call it“Polymerization-assimilation(????)”according to Zhang Bo(1999).The article also analyzed the reasons why the sememe of the disyllabic words"rukou, chukou, jinkou"in the semantic relation could not be matched one by one.At the same time,it corrected the inappropriate example sentences in the"Chinese Dictionary(???????)"and tried to make a big breakthrough in the description and explanation of the predecessors.
