| In everyday life, humans perform actions alone or in the presence of others. These behaviors have different kinematics model although based on identical actions. What’s more, the gender of the interactive partner also plays an important role.Social interaction research provides a new perspective to explore human motor programming and execution. Two experiments were carried out to explore the influence of gender and social interaction condition on the transferring movement.Having a group of male college students and a group of female college students,in Experiment 1,we compared the impact of social interaction condition and gender on the transferring movement in the direct contact condition.Females’ movement was neither affected by the gender of the partner nor the action of the other. However,in the non-cooperative condition, males performed gender preference on transferring actions. They transferred objects to women more precisely.Based on a new group of male college students and female college students,we explored the impact of social interaction condition and gender on the transferring movement in the no contact and indirect contact condition.Experiment 2 further confirmed the conclusion of the experiment 1.In non-direct contact condition, females’movement was neither affected by the gender of the partner nor the action of the other. In addition, the results of experiment 2 showed that,in the indirect contact condition, males similarly performed gender preference on transferring actions. Our study provides evidence for the selection of participants and experimental design in the social interaction study. In the research of social interaction,it might be better to recruit female participants when we need to exclude the influence of gender or social interaction situation. |
