| The reason why the new folk song movement could flourish across the country in 1958,was the need for literary development and the personal promotion of the chairperson.However,the new folk song surpassed other literary genres and forms,and became the mainstream cultural content of the country.It was related to that the folk songs had always been the political function,and the historical experience of the Communist Party of China in using folk songs to spread mainstream ideology,shape identity,and conduct mobilization.In the context of the great leap forward,the new folk songs were once again on the historical stage,taking on the task of spreading the mainstream ideology,shaping the identity and mobilizing the masses.The movement of new folk songs promoted the spread of new political culture and exerted political socialization.In the new folk song movement,the Communist Party of China and the country relyed on their own power and a sound propaganda organization structure to establish a propaganda network system,which could spread all over the country and deep into the countryside.The task of launching the new folk song movement was disseminated throughout the country.Besides,newspapers,periodicals,and radio were used as vectors to speed up and promote the realization of this process;The leading figures of the literary professional groups had taken the lead role to influenced more literati’s attitudes and actions towards this movement.Through the discussion of model learning,studying groups,and participation in all kinds of poetry creation activities,people participated in the process of political socialization,and played a certain initiative role.In the new folk song movement,the power organs,mass media,and literary occupation groups exerted political education function,cultivated a proletarian literary army which became the solid mass foundation of the country’s legitimacy;Through political communication,people had accepted the ideological consciousness which were needed to break the routine,dared to think and dared to action,and participated in the great leap forward with active enthusiasm.It was manifested in an infinite exaggeration of individual power and a joke about traditional authority figures.Transcendence,and giving legal freedom to free love in labor,these poems were the confrontation of traditional thinking that hindered the Great Leap Forward movement.In addition,this process further enhanced people’s recognition of leadership authority and played a direct role in political mobilization.People enthusiastically participated in the Great Leap Forward and the construction of the people’s communes.At the same time,the article reflects on the political socialization in the new folk song movement:the new folk song movement had shaped homogenized groups of workers,peasants and soldiers through the compulsory intervention of national ideology.What’s more,personal characteristics and political personality were neglected;the institutionalization of public participation in politics had not yet been promoted,and low-level political participation had gradually expanded.At last but not the least,the distinguish between the ideals and realities which was described so nice by the party and the country in this movement.The frustration of the people’s value expectations affected people’s recognition of the party’s and country’s emotions and abilities. |
