Previous research shows that the conflict effect is affected by the proportion of congruency in the task, that is,the proportional congruency effect. The researchers believe that this is a macroscopic adjustment method of cognitive control. Is this kind of cognitive control really in a domain or special? In recent years, the exploration of the generality of cognitive control has mainly focused on the microcosmic adaptation of the conflict in terms of congruency of before and after trials, but has paid less attention to the proportion congruency effect of macroscopic attention to proportion congruency in block. What's more important is that the exploration of generality of proportion congruency focuses more on the cognitive aspect and less on social-cognitive aspects that are closely related to individual life.Although conflicts can arise from neutral stimuli, social information can also be.In order to supplement the blanks of previous studies, this study adopted a factorial task-crossing design with stereotyped Stroop and Simon. It mainly explores two questions below:(1)Does the change in the proportion of congruency trials in a stereotyped Stroop task affect the trial congruency in the stereotyped Stroop? and whether this manipulation will affect the congruency of the trials in the Simon task without changing the proportion congruency of trial;(2)Will the change of proportion of congruency trial in the Simon task affect the trial congruency in the Simon task? and whether this change will have an effect on the congruency of trials in the stereotyped Stroop task that does not change the proportion of trial congruency. Therefore, this study intends to explore the effect of proportional congruency on gender stereotypes, and to show whether cognitive control is either specific or general in domain. For this purpose, two experiments were arranged in this study. The factorial task-crossing design was used to integrate the Simon task and the stereotyped Stroop task.Experiment 1 manipulated the ratio of congruency trials in the stereotyped Stroop task(MC=75%,MI=25%).Experiment 2 manipulated the ratio of congruency trials in the stereotyped Stroop task(MC=75%,MI=25%).If there is proportion congruency effect not only in the task in which the ratio of congruency trial is manipulated, but also in the task in which the ratio of congruency trial is not manipulated,it means that the cognitive control is general in domain, otherwise it is specific in domain.Experiment 1 finds that the reaction time under the incongruence trial in the picture-word stereotype Stroop task is longer than that under the congruency trial, and the correct rate is lower than that under the congruency trial. The classic conflict effect appears, indicating that there is a stereotype. In the Simon task, the response time required to complete the incongruence trials was longer than that of the congruency trials, and the correct rate was lower than that of the congruency trials, indicating the existence of the Simon effect. However, the conflict not only in stereotyped Stroop in which the ratio of congruency trial is manipulated, but also in the Simon task in which the ratio of congruency trial is not manipulated, are not affected by the ratio of congruency trial in the stereotyped Stroop,no proportional congruency effect has been observed. In Experiment 2,it was found that the response time when the orientation of the stimulus was inconsistent with the orientation of the reaction button was longer than that in the incongruence condition, and the accuracy rate was lower, indicating that there was a Simon effect. It is worth noting that the Simon effect is influenced by the ratio of congruency trial in the Simon task, which is represented by the fact that the Simon effect in the mostly congruency is greater than that in the mostly incongruence, showing that there is a proportion congruency effect in the Simon task, and more importantly,The stereotype conflict is also affected by the proportion of congruency trials in the Simon task.It shows that conflict effects in mostly congruency are greater than the interference effects in mostly incongruence. There is a proportion congruency effect, indicating that the cognitive control formed in the Simon task migrated to the stereotyped Stroop, indicating that the cognitive control has is general in domain. In conclusion, this study focuses on the influence of the manipulation of proportion congruency on gender stereotypes, and explores the generality of macroscopic cognitive control that is reflected in proportion congruency is either general or specific in domain. The results show that the cognitive control formed in the Simon task can be transferred to the stereotyped Stroop task,to a certain extent, that the cognitive control has is general in domain.
