The Legend Of City Space-on The Strategy Of Procrastination In In Search Of Warriors

This article is focused on Wang Xiaobo's narrative production of city space of the "Li-Fang unit system",in order to explore the procrastination strategy in In Search of Warriors.The result shows that,the "procrastination" develops itself actually through the production of city space of the "Li-Fang unit system" in the following two aspects:the production of the architectural space and the social space.And the production of the city space is just the construction of the procrastination.A perspective of the structuralism philosophy that everything running from"order" to "disorder" or "out-of-sequence",throughout Wang Xiao bo's narrative construction of architectural space and social space,in macro sense,exposes the"falsity" of the entire space of the "Li-Fang unit system" which is disintegrated from its internal world.Specifically,to begin with,the architectural space as "visual world"shows its extreme "order" by the "walls",whereas,Series of architectures with"morbid appearance" hiding in the city expose the inevitable decadent trend and"out-of-sequence" of the "Li-Fang" city.Furthermore,the "disorder" of the architectural space is also a metaphor of the "disorder" of the social space whose main body is formed by the "discourse space".As the main part of the article,the social space of "Li-Fang unit system" is divided into two types:one is a discourse-game-space among "authoritative discourse" "money discourse" and "punishment discourse",which exposes the human nature selfishness" in "Pattern of Difference Sequence" in Chang'an City,the other one is a "moral discourse"-"bankruptcy"-space combined with its characterization,the"sexual repression" space,which exposes the "sadistic" psychology generally existing in Chang'an City's "sexual repression" environment.The narrative production of the two types of social space constitutes the main course of Wang Xianke's procrastinated tracing.And the various discourses that the gentlemen in Chang'an City-Xuanyang Fang uphold all end "bankruptcy",because,even they try hard to live in an "order"world which is constructed by "discourses",it is difficult to coordinate the various discourses,which would lead to self-contradictory in their own behavior,and lead the entire city space of the "Li-Fang unit system" to a "disorder" space losing its"self-consistency" and a hypocrisy world also.In the meaning production of the social space of the "Li-Fang unit system",as well as the procrastination of various"discourses",Wang Xianke's tracing process is also "broken" into various of obstacles and suffering.He suffers from rejection,deception,discrimination,insult and other "abused" experience,mentally and physically,and eventually caught the Xuanyang Fangers'"Achilles' heel",afraid of losing their own lives.As a result,he forced the gentlemen to answer where did Wushuang go with violence,and managed to "complete" the tracing procrastination in In Search of Warriors.In fact,these two types of social space have distinguished meaning and function in the construction of Wang Xianke's tracing procrastination:the discourse-game-space has a great influence on Wang Xianke's effort of how to dig out people's memories and the truth,in which the narrative production is "interlocking" and "strategic",well,the "sexual repression" space explains the general "state" of Wang Xianke when tracing,that is,a"sadistic" environment of gentlemen's "discourses".
