Study On Present Situation Of "The Belt And Road" Discourse

"The Belt and Road" is an important initiative proposed by our country to participate in international governance and enhance China's international status.Since its implementation,it has been widely reported as an important concept.The discourse reflects the deployment and publicity of the "The Belt and Road",which is an important window for understanding our foreign policy and international concept.In order to clarify present situation and explore the existing problems of the discourse,this thesis is based on the "People's Daily" and the main government documents in domestic and the news of major foreign countries along the "The Belt and Road".On the basis of it,this thesis has built large-scale Chinese and English corpus and described the discourse situation respectively.Then uses the discourse analysis theory to analyze the similarities and differences between the discourse at home and abroad.Specially,the topic reports,high frequency words,collocations and semantic prosody of corpus have been studied carefully and the attitude towards "The Belt and Road" at home and abroad is also referred to.It has been concluded that the "People's Daily" tends to use "cooperation","development" and other positive semantic prosody vocabularies.All the reports about "The Belt and Road" are positive.In contrast,different countries in the international community have different attitudes towards "The Belt and Road".Not only the positive vocabularies such as "support" and "benefit" have been used,but also the negative words such as "threat" and "bold" have been mentioned.On the whole,the reports tend to use the positive vocabularies to describe the "The Belt and Road" initiative both at home and abroad,the positive ones covering the largest proportion.To further explain the problem,this thesis explores the constructive function of"The Belt and Road" discourse.From the perspective of discourse practice and social practice in discourse analysis theory,this thesis has put forward three specific suggestions for the "The Belt and Road" initiative--"choose the appropriate discourse,unify the discourse standard and enrich the discourse content" to provide reference for policymakers in our country.
