Study On Shi Jie’s Philosophy Thought

Shi Jie,a scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty.Styled Shoudao,he was the famous song "at the beginning of three,one of the famous".As the pioneer of Neo-Confucianism of the Song and Ming Periods,Shi was also popularly called Master Culai.Regarded as a link between the preceding and the following,he made graven contribution to the Confucian revival in the early Northern Song Dynasty.On the basis of examination of Shi Jie’s life story,his major works,the background of the times and the development of his thought,we make full use of the original code and probes into his philosophical thoughts.In the early Northern Song Dynasty,the state was-not completely united.The neighbours which were controlled by minority had emerged.Meanwhile,land annexation was very serious,and natural disasters were frequent.Moreover,the emperor believed in Buddhism and Taoism.In the face of domestic trouble and foreign invasion,Shi assumed the responsibility of opposing Buddhism and Taoism and reviving Confucianism.Shi’s thought between heaven and man centered around "three powers".He believed that the heaven,the earth,and the man were in a different position but they have a common origin.The Tao of sage was seen,along with the Tao of heaven.It opened the way of "reason" in Neo-Confucianism.Shi Jie proposed the theory of "material force",believes that everything is made of"qi",the vitality is the eternal existence,the "material force" has good and evil,and have a decisive role on the human and social development.Sages also adapted to the needs of the times and society.They aimed to save the world.But,they must rely on the good"material force".Shi Jie life respected Han Yu,he inherited and developed Han Yu’s Confucian orthodoxy,and provides reference for the post Confucian.Shi believed that Tao was in the same strain and the Tao of sage was without ending.In order to save the present situation of Confucian,Shi actively promoted Confucianism,at the same time,criticized Buddhism and Taoism.He criticized Buddhism and Taoism on the asceptsof Hua-Yi distinction,the moral order,socioeconomy.He believed that "No gods,no Buddha,no gold surgery."Shi Jie put forward the social ideal of restoring the systems of emperors in ancient times.He wished that "Monarch and courtiers were courteous,father and son are orderly,men and women are different."He believed that sages and people play an important role in the development of social history.In his opinion the subversion of the systems of emperors in ancient times was due to the mistake of the Han Dynasty.His view of history include Retroism,Sage History and People-oriented Thought.In the philosophical thought of Shi Jie,the spirit of "put knowledge to practical use to society" runs through all the time.
