The Research Of Chen Jian’s Jingshi Thought And Historical Writing

Chen Jian was a lower official and a scholar in Zhengde and Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty.In that time,in the academic situation of the rise of Heart Philosophy and Real Learning,his academic involved Idealist Philosophy,Real Learning and historiography,and presented a complex shape,and had a unique academic character.This dissertation regards Chen’s works as main local historical materials,and collects Guangdong local historical materials and other related historical materials,with the methods of comparative analysis and the combination material and analysis,comprehensively and deeply discusses Idealist Philosophy,Real Leaming and historiography of Chen.This dissertation considers that Chen shaped a closed,narrow view of Confucianism,which abandoned the exploration of Confucianism theory and exerted importance of practice,but was limited by Idealist Philosophy.The Confucianism view exerted tone of the research of Real Learning and historiography.Chen faced the governmental crisis in Jiajing period,and provided the scheme of reform in the three aspects of finance administration and military,and explored the process and cause from prosper to recession of Ming Dynasty.From this point of view,Chen returned into practice.However,from his program of solving the realistic problem,he followed the traditional train of thought of Confucianism,which made his proposal could solve some realistic problems,but was helpless in the face of new problems arisen from the era of social transformation.Compared by Real Learning in the Wanli period,which widely absorbed various academics,Chen’s Real Learning was base with Zhu Xi’s Idealist Philosophy and rejected various academics.This reflected Chen’s Real Learning was not mature.Chen’s research of historiography gained great success in the exploration of the historical ups and downs of the Ming Dynasty on the basis of Real Learning,and become the intellectual premier book of Real Learning in the late Ming Dynasty.Overall,in the complex situation of the academic trend in the middle and late Ming Dynasty,Chen was a transitional figure who was from Zhu Xi’s Idealist Philosophy to Real Learning.
