Li Dai Ming Chen Zou Yi, totally of 350 volumes and 64 categories, was documentary collection of about two thousand ancient famous chancellors from Shang Zhou to Song and Yuan Dynasties. This book extensively covered the gain and loss of policy, institutions and reform, rewards and punishments of employing, comprehensively reflected the policy, economy, ideology, culture, military, ethnic relations, folklore, scholars'mentality, etc. When the compilation of history-borrowed books became the trend, the purpose of this book was for the rulers of that time to refer to the political success and failure and borrow the ancient ideas. The scholars'documents of Song Dynasty covered 70 or 80 percent of the whole book and totally about seven thousand pieces, were the marrow of this book and the important materials for researching the history of Song Dynasty. The scholars'documents of Song Dynasty were mostly from their collected works, Song Shi, Song Chao Zhu Chen Zou Yi, Song Wen Jian, etc.The character of copying directly was convenient to collate other books. The collected works of Song Dynasty were mostly sorted out from Yong Le Da Dian by scholars of Si Ku, many characters changed by them. Moreover, this book conserved many documents of Song's scholars who had not collected works, especially the documents of scholars of Southern Song Dynasty, which supplied important materials for researching the history, figures and special history of Southern Song Dynasty, and had higher value of collection and supply. Li Dai Ming Chen Zou Yi had huge historical and documentary value that can not ignore.The difference between Li Dai Ming Chen Zou Yi and Zhao Ru yu's Song Chao Zhu Chen Zou Yi in aspects of compilatory style and booking range reflected the compilers'different compiled ideasw and the two books'own character of the times. As a member of loyalty, Zhao Ru yu like the emperor and chancellors of Southern Song Dynasty, thought that Northern Song Dynasty died out of the reform, so his compilatory idea of"honor Yuan You, depreciate Xi Feng"reflected in his book. The compilatory age of Li Dai Ming Chen Zou Yi was far away from the party struggles of Song Dynasty, the hatred in scholar-bureaucrats'mind was not as heavy as those of Southern Song Dynasty, Yang Shi qi succeeded Zhao Ru yu's compilatory idea and developed it. Li Dai Ming Chen Zou Yi collected many documents of chancellors of Southern Song Dynasty who mostly were famous chancellors of Li Xue, and reflected the highly regarded status of Li Xue in early Ming Dynasty.
