Malay Archipelago is the largest island group around the world by more than 20,000 islands,which located in the southeast Asia between the Pacific and Indian Ocean.Today,the major countries in the Malay Archipelago conclude Indonesia,Philippines,Brunei,Malaysia(East).After Mid-Tang Dynasty,the main line of China and foreign countries trade shifted from the Maritime Silk Road gradually,the trade of China and foreign countries had a rapid development by the Maritime Silk Road.With its special geographical position,Malay Archipelago became an important transition and distribution center on the Maritime Silk Road,and businessmen around the world gathered here.The Chinese ceramics,silk and other goods after arrived here by ships,then into the Indian Ocean,shipped in ports of the Bay of Bengal,the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea.In recent decades,with the rapid development of underwater archeology,underwater relics have become an important source of archaeological relics.A lot of 7-13 century wreck has been founded in the surrounding seas of Malay Archipelago,and they are new materials and evidences which reflected the exchange between China and foreign country.This paper intends to explore the exchange between East and West,Malay Archipelago’s countries and Chinese countries by Maritime Silk Road from Tang to Song Dynasties,which through the important port and region in the ancient Maritime Silk Road-Malay Archipelago.On the basis of researches of local unearthed and underwater cultural relics,then analyze by using archaeological methods and means and combining with the archaeological material and research results.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction,mainly elaborated the selected topic reason and significance of this paper,review the researches of Tang and Song Dynasty cultural relics and studies of ancient Chinese and Malaysian maritime transport,trade.Make a description on the related problems discussed in this paper including the space-time range,the natural geographical environment in Guangxi and some defintions.The second part:The findings of archaeological remains of period from Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty in the Malay Archipelago and its surrounding seas.The third part:Analyzing the process of exchange based on the relics from Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty in the Malay Archipelago and its surrounding seas.As these conclusion:Major export kilns:Yue kiln,Changsha kiln,Dehua kiln and Longquan kiln were not only exported surplus products as export goods.And in Changsha kiln,the external factors had been integrated into export products.Dehua kiln spread out the Chinese culture and aesthetic standard by its products.The circulation of coins from Tang and Song Dynasties and local circle of the round hole coins described its currency had been influenced deeply by China.The forth part:Listing socio-economic status of ancient Malay Archipelago countries in 7-13 century.Describe the Maritime Silk Road of Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty.And discuss the reasons of prosperity of the Maritime Silk Road.The progress of navigation and shipbuilding technology,encouragement and support of China and ancient Malay Archipelago countries,prosperity of nongovernmental trade and immigration are the important reasons which pushed the transition of trade mode.Political and economic relations between China and ancient Malay Archipelago countries entered a new period.The fifth part:Conclusion and summaries of the full text.
