The Study On Novels Of Intellectuals In Universities Since Chinese New Period

Literature has a long history of thinking about intellectuals from ancient comments about literati to the modern enlightenment of intellectuals’ thoughts and to contemporary investigations of the situation of intellectuals(especially university intellectuals)in different historical stages,including writers and readers,to form conscious thinking of the group.College intellectuals are an important group to promote social development.Writers pay more and more attention to and write about them,which is a timely recording of the times and a positive reflection on the evolution of the group.This paper explores the novels of intellectuals in universities since Chinese New Period mainly on the sacrifice and rebuilding of intellectuals’ spirit,grasps various cultural symbols from the cultural ecological environment of universities constructed by novels,and reflects on the evolution and rebirth of intellectuals under the changes of the social environment in the new period with behavioral and spiritual characteristics of characters.In the comparison between the novel creation and the real world,it is found that there are still some problems in writing and the possible solutions in practice.The purpose is to reshape the spiritual image of intellectuals in the literary world and think about the significance of literary history as well as the social and cultural value of novel creation.Throughout the development of novels since the new period,in the environment of the increasing popularity of mass consumption psychology under the market economy,there is unity and contradiction between the open cultural space of universities and the acknowledged cultural responsibility of intellectuals,which possibly makes intellectuals fall into mental anxiety.The cultural spirit of Chinese intellectuals carries a bright banner in all aspects of novel creation.It deduces the destruction of the spiritual benchmark as well as the inheritance of ingenuity and persistent struggle in various ways under the framework of the times.There are manykinds of cultural symbols as carriers in the world of fictions,including positive and negative attributes,by which the cultural atmosphere constructed has a profound impact on the thoughts and behavior of characters.The excessive expansion of material desire aggravates the conflict between subjects and the dislocation of intellectuals’ identity.A strong problem consciousness is reflected.Faced with the erotic,cowardly or struggling images,writers construct critical identity to show the consciousness and attitude of cultural criticism and convey serious thinking as well as spiritual ideas by ironic writing.Considering the Chinese context and the global context,the problem of intellectuals is universal in a transformable age.When the spiritual tragedy of contemporary intellectuals is over,there is an important opportunity to rebuild the cultural spirit of intellectuals.Writers should break through the one-sided focus,fully explore the publicity of intellectuals and make choices of cultural value in the context of the new period.They should also focus on explaining the historical mission and social responsibility of intellectuals,try to break through the predicament of conflicting between ideal and reality and point the way out.Thus the literary value of the novel will be enhanced.In the aspect of writing persistent rational perseverance and showing strong humanistic spiritual concern,literature could make progress.While writers should make up for the tearing of literary expression through the positive dialogue and rebuild the cultural personality of intellectuals.
