Chinese phonetics teaching is an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Thailand vocational college students are prone to errors in acquiring Chinese initials.This thesis analyzes the errors made by Thailand vocational college students in the process of acquiring Chinese initials through acoustic experiments.Then analyzes the reasons caused these errors.Finally,the thesis puts forward some teaching strategies.This thesis is intended to provide reference teaching suggestions for the coming Chinese volunteers,and help Thailand vocational students to learn Chinese more effectively.At the same time,it also provides a theoretical reference for Chinese volunteer teachers in other countries.First of all,the research compares the similarities and differences of the consonant systems between Chinese and Thai language,then it figures out the important and difficult points when Thailand vocational college students learning Chinese initials.Then the students' audio files are analyzed by using Praat software after the files are collected.A comparison was made between Thailand learners and the Chinese native students in terms of the analyzed pictures got from the Praat software.Then the thesis finds out the types and the causes of the errors made by Thailand vocational students in acquiring Chinese initials.Through comparing the Chinese and Thai learners' files,the main errors made by Thailand vocational college students are concluded: First,the voiceless are confused with the voiced ones.The aspirated sounds are confused with the unvoiced ones.Second,the phonemes in the front of the tongue are easy to misread and confused.Third,the phonemes in the back of the tongue are easily misread and confused.Fourth,the phonemes in the tip of the tongue are misread and confused,the pronunciation of the retroflex sounds is not correct.According to the form of errors found in the research,the main reasons which caused these errors are found: First,the negative transfer of mother tongue and the influence of their second language such as English.Second,the influence of Thailand national educational background and individual factor of students.Third,the influence of Chinese curriculum setting and teaching resources in the college.The thesis also puts forward some teaching strategies about Chinese initials: First,from easy to difficult and arrange the teaching contents step-by-step.Second,use different methods according to different students and enrich teaching methods.Third,the lectures should be exquisite and ensure more practices for students.Fourth,Chinese volunteer teachers need to constantly improve their own abilities.
