Helping students to acquire unlimited knowledge in a limited teaching time has always been a difficult point in teaching of school education,therefore,promoting effective teaching in schools has become a breakthrough to solve this problem.At present,although effective teaching in basic education has made certain progress,there are still some teaching wastes in some schools’ education and teaching,which resulted in inefficient teaching.This waste phenomenon exists in the teaching process,learning process and management process of the school,leading to a decline in the teaching level,so that the quality of teaching and the quality of talent training have not been fundamentally improved.However,the problem of teaching waste has not attracted enough attention from schools and teachers,and has not caused widespread concern and research.There are still many difficulties to be solved.Therefore,it is necessary to further study the waste phenomenon rural in junior middle school English teaching.In the process of English teaching in rural junior middle schools,teaching waste not only exists in the teaching process of teachers,but also exists in the learning process of students.Therefore,this thesis attempts to investigate the current situation of English teaching waste in rural junior middle school from the perspective of teachers and students under the effective teaching theory,and analyzes the causes of teaching waste.In this study,30 English teachers and 180 students from two junior middle schools in Suide were selected as research objects.There are 30 teachers in total,15 in each of the two middle schools,of which 5 teachers in each of the first,second and third grades.The teaching age is distributed in the three stages of the old,middle and young.First of all,questionnaire is made for these 30 teachers.Then six teachers were selected for interviews according to their grades and teaching age.Finally,the classroom teaching of the six teachers were observed.At the same time,questionnaire is made for these 180 students,90 in each of the middle schools,of which 30 students in each of the first,second and third grades.After the investigation,the data was statistically analyzed using SPSS19.0 and EXCEL software.The results show that there are two main reasons of English teaching waste in middle school.Firstly,the reasons of teachers: teachers are not fully prepared before class.The teaching design does not fully consider the specific situation of students and use improper teaching strategies.Exam-oriented education still plays a leading role,the classroom teaching method is monotonous and boring.The teaching time is not reasonable,students’ expression and communication time is not sufficient.And teachers do not have a deep understanding of evaluation,so they cannot evaluate students scientifically.Secondly,the reasons of students: students do not have strong learning initiative and they rely too much on classroom learning,English teachers and parents.Students do not have strong interest and clear learning motivation.Students’ study methods are not scientific,they have not grasped the correct study strategies.And students fail to master and use cognitive strategies in learning.
