The Chinese pattern is a rich artistic heritage in China’s long cultural history.It is a pattern with national artistic style evolved from various historical dynasties.And It is also an artistic symbol for laborers to express objective things in their production and life with wisdom and soul,and to convey inner feelings.Its unique spiritual and cultural connotation reflects the different social and historical forms over thousands of years,as well as the aesthetic needs of various strata for culture and art.As a result of the development of working people’s production experience and technology,Chinese patterns are also moving forward.They are properly applied to all aspects of real life,loved by the people,and become an important spiritual nourishment for the development of social civilization.However,in the current society with the continuous advancement of political,cultural and economic globalization,how to maintain the particularity and independence of national traditional culture,the cultural identity of traditional Chinese patterns can not be underestimated.In recent years,with the revival of traditional culture,Chinese traditional patterns have gradually been pushed onto the road of academic research.Although some scholars have discussed and studied the application of Chinese pattern design,there are relatively few studies on the development of Chinese traditional pattern and the teaching of traditional pattern in contemporary fine art education.Therefore,we still need to dig in depth,aiming at solving the problem of the lack of "cultural" in the pattern curriculum in contemporary fine art education.At the same time,it also makes a basic research into the inheritance and application of Chinese traditional patterns for the promotion of higher fine art education.The full text is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction.The second part gives an overview of the Chinese pattern’s definition and its evolution in past dynasties.The third part analyzes the form and connotation of Chinese pattern from three aspects: the main theme,aesthetic characteristic and national connotation.The fourth part expounds the importance of Chinese pattern in fine art education by combing the relationship between pattern and fine art education,and the content characteristics,educational purposes and values of Chinese pattern in art education.The fifth part,taking the basic goal and current situation of Chinese pattern teaching in universities as the breakthrough point,digs out the important enlightenment of Lei Guiyuan’s pattern education thought to the pattern teaching in universities,and further explores the teaching methods of Chinese pattern,in order to realize the deeper inheritance and development of Chinese pattern in contemporary fine art education.
