| In foreign language learning,affective attitude may affects students’ learning effect,especially the factor of motivation.Researchers have done a great quantity of studies about motivation on learners’ foreign language learning,the focal point of the studies are on why students have motivation,and rarely on why their motivation declines or disappears,which can be called demotivation.D?rnyei defined demotivation as an external force that reduces or disappears people’s ongoing learning behavior or behavioral tendency to do so,whose definition emphasized the role of external forces and ignored the influence of possible internal factors.Besides,there are also relatively few studies on demotivation,especially in the study of senior high school students’ English learning demotivation in Inner Mongolia.Then this research attempts to investigate the extrinsic and intrinsic factors of senior high school students’ demotivation in English learning in Inner Mongolia.Autonomous learning is a pivotal factor in foreign language learning as well,which as one of the important learning abilities of core competencies of English subject.Although researches on L2 learners’ autonomous learning are already have some,which the studies are more focused upon the present situation of autonomous learning.Then currently few researchers have conducted studies on the correlation between senior high school students’ demotivation and autonomous learning in English learning.Therefore,it is necessary to study the above problems.This study puts forward the following research questions: 1.What is the current situation of students’ demotivation in English learning in senior high school in Chifeng? 2.What is the current situation of students’ autonomous learning in English learning in senior high school in Chifeng? 3.Are there any correlations between English learning demotivation and autonomous learning that the students in senior high school? And what is the correlation between them? It is aimed at helping the teachers to understand the problems and difficulties of senior high school students in English learning,and exploring the ways to improve students English learning abilities and effect.The research adopt the approach of questionnaire and interview,a total of 243 students in an ordinary senior high school and a key senior high school were selected to fill in the two questionnaires,which are questionnaires on demotivation and autonomous learning of senior high school students in English learning respectively.A total of 243 questionnaires were issued,240 valid questionnaires were collected,and12 students were selected for interviews.The results of questionnairesand interviews were analyzed by SPSS 22.0.Based on the results of the statistical analysis of the survey data,the writer draws the following conclusions: Firstly,students in senior high school in Chifeng all have the demotivation in English learning at or above the medium level,and students in ordinary school have higher level of demotivation in English learning than them.Secondly,students’ English autonomous learning ability in senior high school in Chifeng tend to be at or below the middle level,but in general,the key senior high school is better than the ordinary senior high school.Finally,there is a significant middle negative correlation between learning demotivation and autonomous learning in English learning in senior high school,that is,the higher the degree of students’ English learning demotivation,the worse their English autonomous learning ability is.On the basis of the data analysis and discussion,the writer puts forward some referential suggestions to teachers and other educational workers in order to improve the teaching effect.Ultimately,the writer also points out the limitations of this study,and offers some suggestions for the further research. |
